Garan Coons, a professional dancer, singer, flute player, and storyteller of the Oglala Lakota and Navajo tribes, is the ultimate all-around entertainer! Founder of the Many Moccasins Dance Troupe, Coons tours extensively, delivering a spectacular display of living Native American culture. His exquisite regalia and defined dance moves offer a magnificent educational and artistic experience that all age groups will enjoy. Coons specializes in the art of Fancy Feather dancing and traditional Prairie Chicken dancing, both of which help bring history and tradition to life. The performance will include traditional dancing with narration, storytelling, and flute playing. Mr. Coons is the recent recipient of the Governor's Arts Award in the category of Heritage Arts.
The Nebraska Arts Council, a state agency, has supported this arts event through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
