Red Cloud Creative District, Cather Writers' Residency, and Cather 150 Events

RED CLOUD — Insofar as the people and places of Red Cloud and Webster County provided the inspiration for much of author Willa Cather’s lifetime bibliography of fiction writing, it doesn’t seem odd to refer to Red Cloud as a “creative district.”
Now, however, the designation has become official, as the fledgling Red Cloud Creative District was named in April as a certified Nebraska Creative District and was awarded a $10,000 Nebraska Arts Council Certification Grant.
As a certified Creative District, the Red Cloud entity now is eligible to pursue a $250,000 Development Grant from the Nebraska Arts Council.
