This recently renovated two room apartment has its own kitchen, bathroom and a style all its own. Located in downtown Red Cloud, 1/2 block from the National Willa Cather Center, Opera House, Wine Bar, market for groceries/deli supplies, and bikes to rent at Back Alley Bicycles. There are 23 steps up to this 2nd floor apartment. A unique small town, downtown living experience located in the heart of all things Red Cloud. Not ideal for children, but a supervised child is certainly welcome.
The space
This private apartment, recently renovated, is located in a brick building in the historic district at our town center. This is a two room apartment, plus kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom also has an exceptionally comfortable leather recliner that can work to nap/sleep as well. There is no dedicated work station, but the dining table can easily transition to a work table including comfortable chair and interesting view. There is a coffee shop below, with wifi, which can also serve as a work space. (You won’t hear a peep from the coffee shop unless you happen to go down there.) Views are of brick streets and downtown buildings/activities. Full kitchen with pots, pans, microwave, dishes, utensils, coffee pot and water kettle. Bathroom with shower stall, blow dryer, and makeup mirror. There are restorations in progress in the two adjacent apartments (with consideration to your stay, of course) but not rented out yet. There are 23 steps up to this second floor apartment to keep you fit!
Red Cloud is at the crossroads of two state highways, and you are at town center, so as expected, you may experience some street noise. Hwy 136, east-west, is designated as the Heritage Hwy, one of nine scenic byways in the state. Hwy 281 is the longest continuous three digit north-south route in America and the only one to stretch from Canada (at the International Peace Garden) to the Mexican border.
Guest access
Several apartments share entry stairs from the street, but you will be the only guests with access to your full apartment.
Other things to note
Red Cloud has the nation's largest collection of nationally-designated historic sites dedicated to an American author, most within walking distance of the apartment.
